Ms. Mitsuyo Suehiro of Japan has been in Sri Lanka since February, 2001 and
has studied all asspects of the Tea Industry. She has travelled to all the tea
plantation districts and have been to over 40 plantations, to study the process
of tea manufacture and social welfare of the plantation workers.

She also had the opportunity to visit and understudy in tea brorking houses which
sell 95% of the production of Ceylon tea through the aucrion. Thus, she has gained
a fair knowledge on tea brokering and tasting where approximately 300 mkgs. goes
through the auction system annually.

Further, she has got exprosure on tea esorting and trading as well as the knowledge
of shipping. Ms. Mitsuyo has spent a considerable time at the Tea Tasting Unit and
at the Library of the Sri Lanka Tea Board. Thus, she has gathered a fair knowlege
of Tea Board functions of quarity control and monitoring procedures.

All in all we are confident that Ms. Mitsuyo has gathered substantial information in
the tea industry from tea plucking to export and her keeness in the Sri Lanka Tea
industry is remarkable.

末広美津代さんは、2001年2月に日本からスリランカに来て、紅茶産業について様々な
面を勉強しています。彼女はすべての茶の産地に行き、訪れた茶園は４０を超えます。そ
こでは、紅茶の製造過程やプランテーションで働く人たちの社会福祉についても学んでいま
す。

彼女は、紅茶のブローカを訪れる機会がありました。そこは、オークションを通して、セイロン
ティの総生産量の９５％が売買されています。年間約３０万トンがバイバイされるオークショ
ンを通じて、彼女は紅茶の流通だけでなく、テイスティングについても相当な知識を得まし
た。

さらに、彼女は紅茶の輸出、貿易、輸送についても実によく知っています。美津代さんはか
なりの時間をティテイスティングユニットやスリランカ政府紅茶局の図書館で過ごしました。こ
のように、彼女は紅茶の品質を管理し、その製造過程をきびしくチェックしている紅茶局の
機能に関しても理解しています。

概して、私たちは美津代さんが茶摘みから輸出まで紅茶産業に関する多大の情報を得
たと確信しております。また、スリランカ紅茶産業に対する彼女の鋭い視線も、特筆すべき
点です。
